Join us for our “Foreign Cinema Series” evening, featuring films from across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim. Our next film will be the widely-acclaimed “Past Lives,” a 2023 from South Korea which has picked up almost 80 wins and 200+ nominations, including two Academy Award nominations, for Best Motion Picture and Best Original Screenplay. “Past Lives” follows friends Nora and Hae Sung from their childhood in South Korea and over the course of some twenty years while they contemplate the nature of their relationship as they grow apart, living different lives, Hae Sung in South Korea and Nora in the United States. The plot is semi-autobiographical and inspired by real events from Director Celine Song’s life.
The Foreign Cinema Series is a hybrid program, so you can attend either in person or via Zoom. The movie will start shortly after 6:30pm and will be followed by an optional brief discussion for those who would like to stay, starting about 8:25pm.
