Requesting Research Services

In order to better serve those researchers and genealogists who cannot visit us in person during the pandemic, we are temporarily waiving remote research fees. A member of the History Center staff will spend up to one hour on your request and provide up to ten scans or photocopies of any relevant material. Due to the volume of requests, and Postal Service shortages, please allow up to two to four weeks for a response.

You can fill out the Request for Research Services form online or print our PDF form and mail it back to us.

Please be brief but concise, providing as much clearly written information as possible to help identify an individual (dates, places, relatives, etc.).  The more information we have, the more likely we will be able to connect with your ancestor. Limit your query to one request about an individual or family. Because of limited staff resources, subsequent requests will be considered on a case by case basis.

Due to the uncertain nature of available records, the outcome of any genealogical research project cannot be guaranteed.

The online form will be automatically sent to us, if you prefer to use our PDF form please fill it out as completely as possible, and send the research application to njhgc@jfpl.org or:
