Talking About Historic Prejudice in our Communities: Creating a Better Future by Understanding the Past

Join us for a panel discussion about:

  • The importance of understanding historical prejudices in one’s community, including racism, antisemitism and anti-immigrantism.
  • Researching and identifying historical prejudices in one’s community.
  • Discussing the effects of these prejudices in the past and, consequently, the present.
  • Identify ways in which historical prejudices can be presented and discussed by community groups, historical societies and museums, libraries, and educational institutions.

Our panel:

Dr. Linda J. Caldwell Epps is President and CEO of 1804 Consultants, a consulting firm dedicated to the advancement of educational and cultural organizations. She has more than 40 years of experience working with educational and cultural institutions, including the New Jersey Historical Society and New Jersey Network Television and Radio. 

 

Claudia B. Ocello is President and CEO of Museum Partners Consulting, LLC and has over 25 years of experience in exhibition development, education, evaluation, and accessibility. A former classroom teacher, Claudia earned an MS in Museum Education and taught for 19 years in Seton Hall University’s MA in Museum Professions Program.

 

James Lewis has a Masters degree in Library and Information Sciences and has been the Head of the North Jersey History and Genealogy Center since 2013. James has also served as archivist and librarian at the New Jersey Historical Society and at the Newark Public Library.
