Carol Walker, an award-winning Appalachian mountain dulcimer performer, teacher, and arranger, will present an entertaining and educational program exploring the origin and evolution of this unique folk instrument.
Carol’s musical background as a classically trained pianist and harpist serves her well as she demonstrates what this humble 3-string instrument can do, far beyond its humble roots. Carol will have many different dulcimers on display and will play each one, exploring the instrument’s evolution and modern-day abilities.
Our Presenter: Carol Walker’s formal training includes a degree in Music Education, with majors in piano, harp, and voice. As a professional piano accompanist, she works with various schools, churches, theater groups, and community choruses, including the prestigious Masterwork Chorus of Morristown, where she is also the Assistant Director and leader of the Masterwork Women’s Chamber Ensemble. She is a popular performer and workshop leader at national dulcimer festivals across the USA.
