Join us in our lower level Meeting Room for an evening with local author Bill Cole whose new book shines a light on an important figure in education and psychology, Carol Gilligan. Gilligan has devoted her life to discovering, uncovering, and recovering the voices of girls and women, as well as boys and men. Through her revolutionary work such as the landmark book In a Different Voice, she has played an enormous role in changing traditionally held views on psychological development in young people. This new biography for teens offers readers (and their parents) not only the opportunity to learn about a pioneering psychologist and her work, but also for them to consider the power of their own voices as they move forward in their lives. (Snow Date, Jan 15.)
