2025 is the 250th anniversary of British writer Jane Austen’s birth!
Join scholar Patricia Ard for a discussion of why Austen’s brilliant novels have earned her lasting fame and a worldwide readership. Austen’s writing and her family life circumstances illuminate her time period, one of continuing war, problematic royals, and constant class struggles. The central themes of money, morality, and marriage resonate in all of her work, including Pride and Prejudice, and continue to be of interest to modern readers. Come celebrate Jane!
This event will take place in the Lower Level Meeting Room.
