Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends of the Library? What do they do?

“The purpose of the Friends of the Morristown & Morris Township Library shall be to further public interest in and greater use of the Library and its facilities. This shall be done by raising funds for Library needs not included in the budget and by sponsoring special programs.” [From the Friends’ Constitution]

The Friends are the library’s hands-on volunteers. They get dusty hauling and sorting used books for the sales that bring the library more than $20,000 a year, provide a kind of book recycling service for the community, and offer shoppers inexpensive books for their personal libraries. The Friends fund lectures and other programs for the community,  publish the quarterly Library News, prepare and serve an annual luncheon for library staff and volunteers and they stand ready to help with special events, purchases, projects or emergencies.

Join the Friends

Anyone may join the Friends by paying the annual dues (15.00 dollars for an individual) that help support the Library.

Used Book Sales

Book Sales are held in the Bookworm Room.  On Saturdays, sales are in the Meeting Room as well. For specific dates and times, please visit our events page for upcoming book sales. The library is at 1 Miller Rd. Morristown, NJ. Click here for directions.

Please feel free to call the library at 973-538-6161 to verify book sale dates and times.

Used book sales are a significant fundraiser for the Friends. They also provide an opportunity for individuals to find new homes for books and to build personal libraries at affordable prices. All proceeds support the Library.
