This book by Deborah Wiles and Daniel Miyares presents a loving introduction to the enviromentalist Rachel Carson and to the beauty of the natural world at night. CRAAAAACK! the thunder shouts. “I’m not afraid!” little Roger answers. But he is. When the storm quiets, Aunt Rachel takes him on a walk to the sea. There, he will listen to all the living things–the woodpecker’s tremolo-thrum-thrum, the frogs’ croak-croak-croak, and he will see the sea sparkle, glittering like emeralds, alive with luminous light.
