When the animal residents of a forest are threatened by an encroaching wildfire, together they flee, convinced that their tranquil home has been lost forever. But with the first rains of the season, new leaves and shoots gradually emerge, and with them, the realization that they will in this forest again. Gianna Marino’s beautiful and moving tribute to the fragility and resilience of the natural world was inspired by her own experiences during the Northern California wildfires of 2017.
